Model 1935/06 Luger manufactured by Mauser under Contract for the Portuguese Military. Major metal components are rust blued, with smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Features include a grip safety and a 4 - 3/4" .30 Luger barrel. Receiver is marked with an intertwined "GNR" over the chamber area for the Garde Nationale Republicanie (Republic National Guard), with the serial number and a commercial crown over "U" proof on the left-hand side. Toggle bears the Mauser Banner logo. Safety is marked "SEGURANCA" and extractor is marked "CARREGADA". Matching numbers include the frame, trigger, sideplate, barrel, receiver, toggles, and breechblock. Locking bolt has been force matched, and bears part of a former serial number beneath the present one. Grips and magazine are unmarked. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to grey and brown patinas. Strawed components exhibit areas of wear all around, with some areas of age-related discoloration. Locking bolt appears to have been refinished at one point in time. Mirror bore, with well-defined rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips bear some smoothing to the checkering, with some nicks and minor impressions present on the diamonds. Exactly 564 of these GNR marked Model 1935/06 Lugers were manufactured by Mauser under contract for Portugal, making this a very nice example of a seldom-seen Luger variation. MLW
