Extremely fine Model 1908 Luger manufactured by DWM for commercial sales within and outside of Germany. Major metal components are rust blued, with smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Chamber area is blank, with crown over "B" and "U" proofs present on the left side of the receiver, as well as the left side of the breechblock. Crown over "B" "U" and "G" proofs are present on the bottom of the barrel. Safety is marked "GESICHERT", with the extractor being marked "GELADEN". This Luger was not made with a stock lug and bears the new style safety, which became the standard for all future Luger variations. Frame was also not manufactured with a hold-open device, nor was it ever altered to accept one. All numbers are matching and are matching in the commercial fashion with the exception of the firing pin and magazine which are unnumbered, and the 2-piece checkered walnut grips, which match themselves. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting a few minor areas of wear from use. Strawed components have been refinished at one point in time and retain the vast majority of their reapplied finish. Bore is bright, exhibiting oxidation within the lands and on the grooves, as well as good rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing and an extremely small loss to the top of the left grip panel but are otherwise fine. An extremely fine example of a Model 1908 Luger manufactured by DWM before the start of the Great War. -MLW-
