One of just 564 Model 1935/06 Lugers manufactured by Mauser under contract for the Portuguese Military. Major metal components are rust blued, with smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Features include a grip safety and a 4 - 3/4" .30 Luger barrel. Receiver is marked with an intertwined "GNR" over the chamber area for the Garde Nationale Republicanie (Republic National Guard), with the serial number and a crown over "U" commercial proof on the left-hand side that is also present on the bottom of the barrel. Toggle bears the Mauser Banner logo. Safety is marked "SEGURANCA" and extractor is marked "CARREGADA". All numbers are matching with exception of the firing pin, grips, and magazine, which are unnumbered. Complete with an original Portuguese leather holster marked "3E/122" over a lightly handwritten "6.E.", which contains an original pin punch tool and cleaning rod with oiler handle. CONDITION: Metal components retain plentiful amounts of their original rust blue finish, exhibiting some scattered areas of wear and thinning that shows through to a grey patina. A few areas appear to have been touched up at one point, most notably on the right side of the frame. Strawed components retain good amounts of their finish, exhibiting areas of wear and age-related discoloration, with the exception of the magazine catch, which appears to have been refinished on the right-hand side. Mirror bore, with well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips show smoothing and a few impressions. Leather holster is very good, showing some scattered handling marks and retaining easily legible markings. A very nice example of a rare 1935/06 Portuguese Luger. -MLW-
