Colt Single Action Army revolver made in 1889, serial number 127677. 4 - 3/4" barrel with correct two-line barrel address. Chambered in .45 Long Colt. Nickel plated with fire blue screws and cylinder pin. Blackpowder frame with three-line patent dates. Trigger bow is stamped ".45 CAL" on left side. Original two-piece black hard rubber grips with serial number 127677 found on inside left panel. Accompanying is a Colt Factory Archival letter dated June 13, 2001 signed by Kathleen Holt, Historian. Letter documents configuration and shipment to J.F. Schmelzer & Sons in Kansas City, Kansas on February 21, 1889, along with six other revolvers of the same type. Also accompanying is an unopened box of military issue .45 LC cartridges marked five-lines: "12/REVOLVER BALL/ CARTRIDGES/CALIBRE,.45/FRANKFORD ARSENAL, 1878. Revolver is housed in a modern french fitted oak case with red velvet lining. CONDITION: Near mint overall with approximately 99% bright original nickel remaining. Only noticeable nickel loss is very minor flaking on the left side of the barrel muzzle and some very minor chipping around the edges of the recoil shield. Beautiful unmolested original screws retaining 98% bright fire blue. Two-piece grips fit perfectly showing modest wear. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is near mint, bright and clean. This superlative single action revolver has been known by the writer for 20+ years and is a rare opportunity to own the best. -MKS-
