Winchester Model 54 bolt action carbine made by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1932. Made in scarce "405 W.C.F." caliber. Blued 20" "NICKEL STEEL" barrel with integral ramp with Lyman No. 26-W pinned brass bead sight. Rear sight dovetail has been plugged for use with receiver mounted Lyman 48-W peep sight. Barrel marked "Model 54 Winchester Trademark-NICKEL STEEL" and caliber marking "405 W.C.F." at left breech. Barrel is marked on underside "MNS" "VP in circle" "Triangle 1" and "28". Black finished "A" suffix serial numbered action with correct 2-hole front bridge, "Winchester Trademark" marked side rail, stripper clip cut out, and non-drilled rear bridge. Numbered bolt (38081) matching receiver with unbent bolt and original Model 54 3-position safety. Blue steel single piece trigger guard with original trigger. Plain walnut carbine style pistol grip stock with forearm groove, blued correct serrated steel buttplate, and correct type hook-and-eye sling swivels. Chance to own a rare Model 54 Special order carbine. PROVENANCE: George Baumer collection. CONDITION: 90% plus original blue with some small handling marks. 90% action blue with bolt handle having some operating use wear and is fading to a grey patina. Floorplate has added finish along with buttplate. Stock has been professionally cleaned with some small handling marks and is cut for receiver sight. Good bore and mechanics. A fine example of a rare 54 Carbine. DLM
