Rare special order Winchester Model 70 pre-war carbine made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1941. Winchester Proof Steel 20" carbine barrel with blued finish, hooded ramp front sight, and Winchester 22G rear adjustable sight. 2-sided markings with Winchester address and caliber marking on left "348 WCF". Barrel correctly marked on underside "348" and "41". Correct black finished pre-war style cloverleaf tang action with correct drilled front bridge, cut out for stripper clip, and non-drilled rear bridge. Correct style bolt with solid bolt handle and 3-position pre-war wing safety numbered "39928" which matches serial number on receiver. Correct walnut pre-war style fine checkered pistol grip stock with "B" in barrel channel, blued checkered steel "Widow's Peak" buttplate, and correct bow type sling swivels. Blued steel detachable floorplate. Correct rare special order caliber in a scarce Model 70 style. PROVENANCE: George Baumer Collection. CONDITION: 90% barrel blue with some case wear near muzzle and on hood. 90% action finish with bolt handle having some operating wear and starting to turn slightly grey in color. Floorplate has some usage scratches with edges turning silver. Buttplate is starting to turn a silvery patina. 90% varnish with wear on carry areas and some light scratches and dings from usage. Good bore and mechanics. An opportunity to own a scarce Winchester Model 70. DLM
