Manufactured in 1932, this fine Colt Shooting Master revolver features all blue finish and is mounted with two-piece checkered walnut Colt medallion grips. The 6" tapered barrel features a partridge front sight which has had a small piece of what appears to be gold applied on the rear tip of the sight and is fitted with a windage adjustable rear sight on the frame. Trigger, hammer, and grip straps are checkered. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT SHOOTING MASTER .38" with Colt's two-line address across the top. Rampant Colt logo is present on the left side of the frame. Frame, cylinder crane, and checkered walnut grips are all matching. Accompanying this revolver is its Colt Factory letter indicating that this was one of three Shooting Master revolvers sent in a shipment to "Chief" (Charles) Olson of Ashland, Massachusetts on August 8th, 1932, who served as the Chief of Police from 1931-1934. CONDITION: Fine. Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, showing some light edge wear, a dragline on the cylinder, as well as a few superficial scratches. Rear frame grip screw is in-the-white. Mirror bore, with well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips are en-suite with the rest of the revolver, and exhibit some light smoothing from handling. A very fine Colt Shooting Master revolver, belonging to a former Chief of Police in Massachusetts. -MLW-
