1897 vintage Winchester Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine, serial number 115413. 22" full round barrel with full-length magazine tube. Special ordered 3-leaf fold down rear sight with white lines. Square block with small blade, pinned front sight. Chambered in .50 caliber Winchester Express (.50-110) Blue with case hardened frame, hammer, lever, and buttplate. Special ordered sling provisions mounted to barrel band and buttstock. Plain, straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Carbine-style butt. Accompanying Winchester Museum Letter dated September 26, 2018, signed by Jessica Bennett, Research Specialist. Letter documents configuration with noted "Old Style Swivels". Letter further states "Serial number applied on January 13, 1897, Received in warehouse on March 22, 1898, Shipped from warehouse on March 23, 1898, Order number 62" Comes with a period correct box of Winchester .50-110 Express cartridges. Blue box marked: "FOR WINCHESTER REPEATING RIFLE, MODEL 1886". CONDITION: Near mint with approximately 98% original bright, heavy case colors on the frame, hammer, and lever. Approximately 85% bright original case colors remaining on the buttplate. Approximately 98% original bright blue on barrel and magazine tube. Bore is near mint, bright and clean. Action is tight and crisp. Wood is sound showing modest wear with scattered light dings.
