Early Civil War era U.S. Model 1855 percussion rifle made at Harper's Ferry Arsenal in 1859. In the white finished three-grooved rifled barrel with bayonet lug and integral blade front sight. Rear flip two-leaf Model 1858 rear sight with 1859 date and "VP" proof. Two-position Maynard tape priming action marked with "Eagle" on primer door. Dated 1859 at rear of lock and "U.S. Harper's Ferry" at front of lock. Walnut full military stock with two iron barrel bands, iron nose cap, and buttplate. Comes with Tulip shaped head original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Overall very good to fine with metal showing some light surface discoloration. Possibly cleaned a long time ago. Wood has dark, oil-soaked appearance with handling marks and dings. Stock has drilled hole in stock on left side possibly from former display fastening. Shootable bore with crisp mechanics. DLM
