This is a one of kind rifle based in the Ingram Westarm design. Its metal parts were made in England and final assembly was done in Italy under a contract with the Government of Somalia for 30,000 rifles. Approximately ten guns were delivered to Somalia pre-production, these guns were capable of selective fire, but this one rifle was modified to semi automatic which allowed for it to be imported to the U.S., where Gordan Ingram used it to assist in the perfecting the design. The 30,000 gun contract was cancelled by the Somalian government for unknown reasons. The gun has 20" barrel with ear-protected front sight, adjustable aperture rear sight. Ventilated handguard and charging handle extremely reminiscent of an M1 carbine, which heavily inspired this design as well as similar in .223 and 7.62x39. Fed from a detachable box magazine with FAL style cutout and release. Sling swivels at forearm and toe line. Left side of receiver marked "C.O.M. ITALY - MOD WESTARM COM - CAL .308 - CAT NO. 5268" Metal buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent, showing little evidence of use with a few minor marks from handling and operation, still retaining the vast majority of factory finish. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some frosting in grooves. These rifles are extremely rare as very few were produced. EW
