1877 vintage factory engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver, serial number 32923. Though this serial number was assigned by the Colt Factory in 1877, the accompanying Colt Archival Letter dated September 20, 2011 documents actual date of shipment as November 7, 1880 to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis Missouri. Letter further documents .45 LC caliber, nickel finish, checkered ivory grips, and factory engraving, with two revolvers of same type in the shipment. Revolver has a 7 - 1/2" barrel with half-moon style ejector rod head. Matching serial numbers found on the barrel, under the ejector housing, and on all other major components. CONDITION: Excellent with 95%+ period reapplied nickel remaining overall. Original nickel screws are unmolested. Original checkered single-piece ivory grips are excellent showing modest wear and minimum shrinkage. Bore is excellent showing modest abrasion and strong rifling. Action is tight and crisp. Overall a very fine example of a deluxe, special-ordered Colt Single Action Army Revolver from the black powder era. Formally in the collection of Johnny Bassett. -MKS-
