A brace of Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolvers housed in a later, non-Colt case with contemporary French fitted interior. Serial numbers 22771 and 27829 both made in approximately 1852. Both revolvers have 6" octagon barrels. Early 2-line barrel addresses. 5-shot cylinders. Chambered in .32 caliber percussion, with straight riflings. Blue, with case hardened frames, hammers, and loading levers. One-piece walnut grips. Silver-plated trigger guards and backstraps. Both revolvers have matching numbers on the barrels, frames, trigger guards, backstraps, cylinders, and wedges. Complete with Colt Patent 2-cavity bullet mold and un-marked powder flask. CONDITION: Both revolvers are very good overall. Revolver 22771 is mostly a brown patina overall with traces of silver on trigger guard and backstrap. Cylinder scene is barely visible. Grips have been sanded with rounded corners at the heel & toe. Bore shows moderate abrasion with good rifling. Action does not rotate cylinder. Revolver 27829 is near fine overall, with 40-50% thinning original blue on barrel. Traces of original blue on cylinder with fairly strong roll die coach hold up scene. Grips are fine showing most original varnish with modest wear. Strong traces of silver on backstrap and trigger guard. Balance of revolver turning a pleasing patina. Bore is very fine with strong rifling. Action works properly and locks up tight. Case has a couple of cracks in the lid. -MKS-
