Circa 2002. A very nice 12 bore with 28 - 1/2", 2 - 3/4" chambered blued steel barreled seven-pin sidelock side by side game gun. This gun is part of a large collection that was thought to be lost not to be found again. As history has it, the guns barreled action was built, hidden, and stored in the white between the wars in Liege, Belgium. The barreled action was later discovered and built into a handsome game gun. This gun was built and completed by "Jules Bury", "Lebeau Courally" for "Griffin & Howe". Barrels are built with matte, filed, tapered, concave game ribs with round brass front bead sight, ejectors and third fastener. Chokes are Improved Modified and Improved Cylinder. Top of the left barrel reads "Hand made for Griffin & Howe NJ" and on top of right barrel read "Jules Bury Liege Belgium", both executed in fine cursive italics. Breech ends of barrels with fine scroll. This particular set of barrels flats are stamped with Belgium proofs, 12-70 in oval and "GRIFFIN & HOWE NY NY". Bottoms of barrels with Belgium proof marks and ID. Barrels short rib with guns serial number "2012". Water table and breech face are case colored. Action bottom with matching engraving and with gold inlay reading "Jules Bury" "Liege". The scroll engraved trigger guard extends to a long bottom strap which is fully scroll engraved and with serial number "2012". The engraving pattern is known as Prince Albert's. A fine and nicely checkered English straight handgrip on a European walnut stock is darkly marbled and is completed by a diamond-patterned checkered butt. The stocks matching checkered splinter forend has a scroll engraved escutcheon, exterior iron metal, case colored interior iron metal with serial number "2011" and a case colored/checkered Anson-styled push-button forend release.
