Circa 1912. A vintage Mauser action patented designed stalking rifle by the well-known British manufacturer W.J. Jeffery. This classic rifle is built with a 25" steel barrel. Barrel is fitted with a ramped front blade sight with removable hood and mid-band eye for sling. This rifle was one of the first from Jeffery in this caliber as the cartridge is also called the .333 Jeffery and was created by the firm in 1911. The barrel reads "W.J. JEFFERY & CO LTD, 13 KING ST, ST JAMES, LONDON. S.W. 23589". Barrel also with appropriate British proofs. The original Mauser action .333 Express calibered rifle built with a red English walnut stock. The stock with sharp checkered pistol grip has a horn pistol grip cap, eye for sling, and steel recoil plate with trapdoor. The stock forend is fitted with a horn forend tip. Mauser action with flag safe, stripper clip cut out, rear peep sight at end of bolt. The W.J. JEFFERY patented scope mount system with vintage scope comes with this lovely old rifle. Rifle is kept in its vintage green canvas case. Inner case lid with black and gold makers case label. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel retains 98% of a well-executed re-black. Action is smooth. Rifling is good. Stock with small wood inlay from handling mishap on right. Stock and forend grips benefit from older but freshly cut checkering. Vintage case in good condition. Nice vintage rifle.
