1889 vintage Marlin "Small Receiver" Model 1881 lever action rifle, serial number 27637. 28" octagon barrel chambered in .32-40 Winchester Centerfire with third variation barrel address complete with full-length magazine tube, Marbles rear sight (adjustable for elevation), and special order Lyman combination flip-up front sight. Complete with special order double set triggers. 2-piece plain walnut stock and forearm complete with rifle forearm cap and rifle buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, with bright original bluing with a light brown patina beginning to form. Handling and storage marks throughout, mostly on the receiver. Forearm is very good with numerous dents and dings but does not appear to have any discernable cracks. Stock is a period replacement and is ill-fitting. Action works correctly when cycled by hand. Loading gate cover is still tight. Bore is dark with modest abrasion and sharp rifling. Overall, a nice example of a "Small Receiver" 1881 with a couple of special order features. TON
