Extremely nice condition light frame Whitney-Kennedy lever action magazine rifle made by the Whitneyville Armory New Haven Connecticut between 1879 and 1886. Blued rifled octagon barrel with dovetail globe fold down front sight. Rear flip graduated sight (missing crossbar) with barrel marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. USA KENNEDY" with caliber marking of "44 CAL". Blued frame with plain trigger and full-length blued tube magazine. Tang marked "Patd Jan 7. 7 73 Apl 1. (2) M. V 3. & Aug 12, 79". Walnut plain stock with factory sling swivel and blued steel crescent buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning rod. Walnut plain forearm with blued nose cap and factory sling swivel. CONDITION: 85% fading original blue with light freckling and with sharp corners showing some handling wear. Wood shows 70% fading finish with some scratches and handling marks with small 1" crack in forearm on left side (appears stable). 2 small dents in magazine tube on left side. Dark bore with visible rifling and excellent mechanics. DLM
