The steel blade of this Land Customs Dagger is maker marked for the firm of E&F Horster. Original cross graining can be seen along the length of the blade, as well as light freckling and runner marks from the scabbard. The cross guard and pommel cap are made of aluminum with hand enhanced details. Light patina can be observed in the recesses of the guard and pommel cap. The wooden core grip is wrapped with a green leather and a aluminum braid wire. The grip shows light wear on the high points throughout. An original porteppe is tied to the daggers grip area. The steel scabbard body is wrapped with a green leather and decorated with an aluminum scabbard throat, center hanger band, and lower drag. The scabbards green leather has been repainted at some point and has scattered marks thoughout. Green paint can be observed on the edges of the scabbards fittings. Peened over brass screws from an earlier repair can be seen on the center band and lower drag from a repair attempt. The scabbards throat fitting has been dented lightly on one side. An original land customs hanger is attached to the scabbard. CONDITION: DAGGER = VERY GOOD; SCABBARD = GOOD; PORTEPEE & HANGER = EXCELLENT. D.W.
