Early Imperial German Hirschfanger with a nickel-plated blade marked with an early "CARL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN" emblem with scattered marks and freckling to approximately 30% of the blade. Nickel-plated (brass?) fittings have moderate to heavy dark patina. The pommel is an attractive large lion's head. Black bone grips have moderate wear, and etched front and rear straps are very good. Grips, while they do not appear to have been removed, do not fit perfectly. 4 nickel-plated acorns are mounted to the grips. Black leather scabbard have a moderate to heavy level of dings and scrapes. Scabbard fittings retain 45-50% of their nickel finish, with patina and scattered marks. CONDITION: Overall very good. WZ
