Formed in March of 1935, SS Sturmbann "Sachsen" was formed in Dresden to guard the first concentration camp in Chemnitz, while later being transferred to the concentration camp Weimar, Buchenwald. By 1937 the small unit had grown to regimental size, and later would be integrated within the SS Totenkopf. These early SS Totenkopfverbände cufftitles are extremely rare to find on the open market. This example being an officer's version constructed of a woven black cotton base, edged with 2mm wide silver bands consisting 7 silver aluminum wire strands. The silver bullion lettering on the front of the cuff title being expertly, and originally, hand applied to the center of the black woven band with a black cotton twill reinforcement backing on the reverse. The ends of the cuff title feature the early SS RZM cloth tags dated 1936. A rare chance to acquire a desirable SS Cufftitle of the infamous Totenkopfverbände-SS missing from most advanced SS cloth collections. CONDITION: Excellent plus. D.W.
