An Early Schinkle Form Iron Cross First Class. The cross is made of a three piece construction with the outer frame halves being made of nickel silver and the core of brass. The earliest Iron Crosses will be found with cores made of brass or zinc. The reverse features the earlier style hardware which is more reminiscent of the Imperial and Inter-War years produced awards. The cross is slightly convex, with heavy wear throughout. Light paint loss to the swastika and date as well as heavy patina build up attest to its age and give the cross character. CONDITION: Very good.
