Springfield Model 1870 Trapdoor rifled musket made at Springfield Armory circa 1870-1873. Rifled in the white finished barrel with pinned integral front sight and rear graduated flip sight with barrel serial number matching receiver. Arched breechblock dated 1870 with Eagle over arrow proof and US marking. Eagle marked with "U.S. Springfield" 2 position lock dated "1863". Walnut full military stock with 2 iron bands and "U.S." buttplate without cleaning rod trap. Stock has illegible inspectors marks on left side of action. Comes with original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has gray silvery patina with some small areas of surface corrosion. Wood has usage marks and dings with traces of original oil finish. Missing sling swivels. Dark bore with visible rifling and some light pitting with good mechanics. DLM
