Standard configuration K98 manufactured by Gustloff-Werke in 1944. Receiver is marked with an eagle over "749" waffenamt over "bcd/4" with additional waffenamts on the right hand side. Receiver wall is marked "Mod. 98". Bottom of barrel is stamped "avk Bi" alongside an eagle over "13" waffenamt. Stock bears an eagle over "H" Heer marking, indicating issue to the German Army. Matching numbers include the barrel, barrel bands, bolt assembly, floorplate, handguard, and stock. Receiver, trigger guard, and other small components are unnumbered, which is appropriate for K98 manufactured by Gustloff-Werke late in the war. The first number on the rear barrel band was poorly struck close to the side and is indiscernible. Trigger guard lock screws are incorrect replacements. Complete with its cleaning rod and a non-matching bayonet marked "43asw" with scabbard and frog. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting traces of original bluing, showing areas of wear, as well as a few scattered areas of light oxidation present on worn areas, with the balance turning a gray patina. Rear of receiver and bolt assembly retain pleasant amounts of their original blue finish and show some scattered areas of wear from use. Mirror bore with well defined lands and grooves throughout. Rough finished laminated stock shows scattered marks from storage and use, and exhibit some areas of wear and some loss from disassembly. There are a few spots of white paint and a small crack near the buttplate. Bayonet retains the majority of its finish, exhibiting some wear from being pulled in and out of the scabbard. A nice example of a German World War II Heer's marked K98 rifle. -MLW-
