First Issue Model 1908 Luger manufactured by DWM under contract for the German military. These First Issue Lugers were the first variations that were adopted and issued to the German military. Metal components are rust blue finished, with smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Hold-open latch has been added, and bears a stamp on the right side of the frame signifying its arsenal alteration. The receiver is blank over the chamber area and bears early DWM proofs on the left hand side. German imperial eagle is present on the left hand side of the receiver, barrel, and breechblock. Toggle is stamped with the "DWM" monogram. Front grip strap is unit marked "139.R.5.3." indicating issue to the 24th Division, 139th Infantry Regiment, 5th Company. All numbers are matching and were applied in the early military fashion, with the exception of the magazine, which is mismatched and blued. Complete with a scanned short history of the 24th Division during World War I. CONDITION: Metal components retain generous amounts of their original rust blue finish, exhibiting light edge wear, as well as some wear and marks from storage and use. Frame exhibits light freckling all around, with some extremely light surface oxidation being present on the grip straps. Strawed components show wear overall, as well as areas of age related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting light oxidation and retaining good rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips show some smoothing to the checkering and bear some minor nicks and impressions. A very nice and honest example of a DWM First Issue Model 1908 Luger. -MLW-
