Smith & Wesson First Model 1896 Hand Ejector double action revolver. Made circa 1900. Patent dates and company address are correctly placed in between the flutes on the barrel. Matching assembly numbers on the frame and crane. Round full rib barrel with half moon blade front sight and U-notch rear. Original blued finish on the barrel and frame worn to a patina in areas. Case hardened trigger and hammer. "S&W" monogram hard rubber grips with checkering. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with wear and some patina forming on the barrel. There are a few scratches on the frame and barrel as well. Grips are near excellent with a few scratches and handling marks. Clean bore with crisp rifling. Light drag lines on the cylinder. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good lockup and timing. Mechanically fine. JWA
