Circa 1890. A vintage 12 gauge special game gun with blacked heavy barrels, 2 - 1/2" chambers and extractors. Barrels have a hand filed spear point quarter rib with single folding sight with "100" engraved for shot regulation out to 100 yards. Rear sight also with silver line. Extended rib is smooth and concave with silver tipped bladed front sight. Left barrel reads "PARADOX" "FOSBERY PATENT". Right barrel reads "Holland & Holland . 98. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON.". Bottoms of barrels with serial number "11976". Bottom of left barrel stamped "10" "90" "341" alongside forend loop. Barrel flats stamped "2 - 1/2", "12, NITRO PROOF 1 - 1/8, CORDITE 28-750 BULLET MAX, 12 / C (in Diamond) , R.CHOKE, Crown over R", ENGLAND, 500 GUNS INDIANAPOLIS IN". The number "2" back action sidelock is auto safe with "SAFE" in gold is also built with gas escape ports, double triggers, blacked top lever with checkered thumb. Action with light border scroll. Water table marked "150", "11976","PAT 1968-78 NO2 1725", "PATENT ACTION" and with crown over V. Lock plates engraved "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". English walnut stock with well checkered pistol grip. Pistol grip with ebonite grip cap and engraved blued screw. Butt stock with matching 3/4 panel checkering. Matching splinter forend with Anson latch release, forend with border scroll. Interior forend iron blacked with serial number. Gun lives in a canvas case with Holland & Holland paper trade label, charge cards, target, ammo, and leather straps for case. CONDITION: Good. Barrels shows evidence of use. Interior pitting. Exterior pitting on top of left barrel near breech. Exterior of barrels show wear and also pitting beneath forend. Action is tight and sound. Stock is very good and gun benefits from restock. Forend good showing some slight wear checkering recut. Forend lose on loop. Good older gun. CP.
