1890 vintage Winchester Model 1873 rifle, serial number 363545. 24" octagon barrel with full length magazine tube. Standard sights. Chambered in .38-40 WCF. Blue with case hardened hammer, trigger, and buttplate. Plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm, with rifle style crescent butt. Accompanying Cody Museum Letter, dated January 03,2018 and signed by Jessica Bennett. Letter documents configuration and received in warehouse on December 16, 1890 and shipped from warehouse on February 25, 1891 to order 1109. CONDITION: Excellent plus showing 95-98% bright original blue. Most blue loss on top of frame between the dust cover, and hammer. Some freckling and light toning at the barrel muzzle. Bright original "peacock" fire blue on the loading gate. Strong case colors on the buttplate, hammer, and lever. Wood is outstanding, showing very light wear. Bore is bright and clean. Action is tight and crisp. Overall a superlative example of "The Gun That Won The West" -MKS-
