Colt Lightning slide action rifle. Small frame rifle made 1901. Patent dates on the top of the barrel. "22 Cal." marked on the left side of the barrel. Serial number on the bottom of the tang. Octagon barrel with blade front sight and V-notch rear. Original finish on the metal components, with brown patina forming on the frame/tang. Oil finished wood stock with normal serrations on the forearm. Checkered brown hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with wear and handling marks. Some brown patina forming on the frame and tang. Wood has handling marks, dings and scratches. Forearm has a crack running from the center screw to the end of the forearm. Bore is frosted with some pitting. Fair overall rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
