Sharps Model 1863 Civil War carbine made by Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company, Hartford, Connecticut. Blued 6 groove rifled barrel with pinned German silver blade front sight and rear "R.S. Lawrence" marked rear sight. Barrel marked with Sharps Rifle logo and "NEW MODEL 1863". Case hardened percussion action with plain trigger and saddle ring bar with ring marked with usual Lawrence and Sharps markings. "ECB" visible marking on saddle slide bar plate. Walnut plain wood stock with steel 2 piece patchbox and steel buttplate. No visible cartouches. Walnut plain forearm with iron band. CONDITION: Metal has turned to a brown aged patina with some slight surface pitting. Case colors have faded to a brown aged finish. Wood has oil soaked appearance with heavy usage marks as expected with a gun used in combat. Wood has some loss around action with a heavy damage mark behind tang. Small crack forward action in forearm. Dark pitted bore with visible rifling and good mechanics. DLM
