Scarce Simpson Model 625A bolt action training rifle. Made in the mid-1930s before Simpson was changed to "BSW". Barrel marked "FLUSS-STAHL KRUPP-ESSEN" above the caliber and serial number. Matching serials on the barrel, receiver, and bolt. "Mod W 625A" above the company logo on the top of the chamber. Stock has a Simpson proof behind the wrist. No import marks. Bolt and stock are not numbered. Round steel barrel with blade front sight and rear sight adjustable to 200 meters. Original finish in the metal. Oil finished wood stock with smooth metal buttplate. Includes attached cloth sling, which looks to be post-War. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with some brownish patina staring to form in areas. Wood has a few handling marks, dings, and scratches. There is a chip out of the toe of the stock. Bore is clean with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
