The smoothbore octagon barrel is inscribed "John A Shnider" on the top flat, near the breech. Plain brass furniture includes a faceted trigger guard, faceted buttplate tang with patchbox release, and a 2 piece tombstone shaped patchbox. Full-length stock of plain walnut. Complete with associated wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel shows some wear to signature and a brown patina overall. Lock is a reconversion and shows a grey surface. Brass retains a mellow mustard patina with a suspect patchbox. Stock shows scattered marks and signs of age. An interesting rifle with an important signature. DMG
