An interesting period copy of a Sharps Model 1A derringer marked on both sides of the frame "C. SHARPS PATENT 1859". 2-1/2" .22 caliber blued steel barrel cluster with micro groove rifling. Marked on underside with "(Crown)/V" and oval "ELG" proofs, in addition to the initials "PS". Engraved brass frame also marked with the "(Crown)/V" proof and "PS" mark, in addition to a "(Crown)/PT" proof and the initials "DR". 2-piece smooth grip panels of a dark, dense wood with engraved screw and escutcheons. Housed in a vintage satin-lined velveteen case. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels exhibit a silver/grey patina with a few traces of original finish in protected areas. Frame starting to develop a mellow patina, although still bright. Grips ill fitting with 2 chips and a few light handling marks. Bores fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanics. Serial number "601" found on both barrel and frame, although the number "2205" is also found towards the front of the frame. Case very good with some expected wear and some staining on the inside.
