Kentucky Style flintlock rifle that has architecture commonly used in the Virginia Schools. Extremely long 49" rifled octagon barrel with silver blade front sight and notched rear sight punched marked with the maker's initials "T. T" who is unknown at present. Rifle has "Ashmore" marked single bolt flint lock with double set trigger control. Gun has full curly maple stock with Virginia style wide buttstock architecture measuring almost 5" at its widest point. Stock has brass hardware including four petal flower finialed engraved 4 piece patchbox with 3 piercings. Late style double finger loop trigger guard and 17 silver inlays including escutcheon plates and "Man in the Moon" inlay behind the cheek. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has nice aged patina with some surface corrosion with brass having a nice golden patina. Wood has been cleaned with repaired crack in buttstock with some glue residue showing. Forestock has 6" stress crack on left side. Dark bore with sticky mechanics. A pleasing rifle to look at. DLM
