Lot consists of (A) A post-1777 British Royal Navy Sea Service flintlock musket. Smoothbore tapered round barrel with Tower proofs on top of breech, along with what appears to be an arsenal re-breeching stamped with a crown over 2. Post-1777 lock marked "TOWER" at the tail and with large engraved crown over "GR" in the center, British Ordnance crown, and broad arrow stamped beneath pan. Standard brass sea service furniture with flat sideplate and foremost ramrod ferrule with a protruding iron spring to retain ramrod. Walnut stock with clear inspector's marks throughout. Complete with original iron ramrod. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel retains generous traces of original finish, markings very good. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration with excellent markings. Action is strong and functions well. Brass shows some scattered marks from use and retains a mellow patina. Stock very good with scattered minor storage marks. A very nice Sea Service musket. (B) Composite Brown Bess musket. This musket appears to be completely contemporary, with the exception of the barrel, which is marked "33 VA REGT HENRICO". CONDITION: Barrel shows wear to markings and a mottled grey patina. Lock is heavily faux aged and heavily pitted, may have some original components. DMG
