Classic four barrel configuration with rotating firing pin. Silver plated brass frame with scroll engraving on a punch dot background, with Sharp's patent information in a reserve on left side, address on right. Gutta percha grips relief carved in floral patterns. Affixed via chain to coin silver 56mm open face Elgin pocket watch with replacement #5 key, serial number 2008224, circa 1873. Key wind, key set. Running. Monogrammed "ES". Chain appears to be silver with individually hallmarked links, and is marked "Sterling" on swivel clasp. Housed in a leather case with green lining, ammo block with slots for 9 rounds, watch key, and a small Manson dirk with spearpoint tip, German silver guard, and horn scales with mother of pearl decoration on handle with black leather sheath that has German silver chape and drag. CONDITION: Very good, with Sharps retaining the vast majority of the silver plate, lifting in a few areas to reveal brass beneath, primarily to high traffic areas such as straps. Grips are very good with some minor chips towards butt. Engraving crisp. Mechanism works appropriately, bores are very good with some frosting throughout. Watch glass is a little hazy but runs appropriately, silver somewhat tarnished; very good overall. Dirk is very good, cleaned at one point over some old oxidation with blade spotting and some more recent patina. Scale with some minor handling marks, and one chip missing at rear and small crack at affixing pin. Mother of pearl is very good with a few minor chips. EW
