This American-restocked British carbine has a round British carbine barrel with indistinct maker's marks on left side of breech. Lock appears to be British, but no markings remain, plate measures 6 - 5/8" in length. Standard brass British-style carbine furniture. Buttplate is engraved "15" on tang and "24" on back of buttplate. Tiger maple stock executed in the British form with a carved relief clamshell design around the barrel tang, which appears to be Southern. Complete with a reproduction buff leather sling. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark heavy brown surface with some pitting, barrel has been stretched. Lock heavily pitted and reconverted, retaining brown patina. Brass retains a polished mustard surface. Stock shows heavy use and some areas of brown paint, last 15" of forend are replaced. An interesting American carbine. DMG
