Kentucky style percussion rifle made in the style similar to those made by the Reynolds Family in what is now West Virginia. Full octagon rifled barrel with rifle sights signed in script "J. R.". Percussion lock with double set triggers. Full curly maple stock with brass hardware including folksy type 4 piece patchbox with snake shaped sideplates and finial resembling a snake's rattle. Sideplates engraved with snakes and patchbox has 4 piercings. Stock has floral vine type incised carving behind cheek, in front of double finger loop trigger guard and at the start of the moulding line on each side of the forestock. This carving is known as a trait of the Reynolds family. Gun has 15 silver inlays. CONDITION: Metal has aged patina with pitting in breech areas. Brass and silver has been cleaned long ago and has faded to a pleasing patina. Wood has traces of original finish with repair along left forestock with burnout around lock. Crack in wood on right side at toe. Dark bore with sticky mechanics. DLM
