This musket was originally flint and was converted during its period of extensive use to percussion. The musket features a tapered iron barrel with 2 British Tower proofs on top, near breech. The convex lockplate is engraved "TOWER" at the tail and is marked in the center with large crown over "GR". Standard brass Second Model Pattern 1777 furniture. Walnut stock with relief beavertail around barrel tang. Ramrod is absent. CONDITION: Completely untouched and as found, showing heavy use and dark patinas overall. Notable losses to forend on right side, towards muzzle. This musket could have been captured during the Revolutionary War and continued service into the Civil War or later. A very interesting "attic condition" find.
Item Dimensions: L: 57 - 1/2".
