Total quantity of about 30,000 manufactured by Edward Robinson in New York. 40" round barrel in .58 caliber with 2 leaf rear sight and blade front. Barrel is dated 1863 with typical "V / P / (Eagle)" proof with "W.J.L.D." inspector cartouche on far left barrel flat just above wood line. Lock is marked "E. ROBINSON" / "NEW YORK" with "(Eagle) / U.S." ahead of cock with "1863" behind cock. 1 piece plain walnut stock in 3 barrel band configuration complete with iron nosecap and iron "US" marked butt plate. Left flat of stock double marked with "GEC" cartouche inside of rectangle representing George E. Chamberlain. Comes with a correct pattern 1861 bayonet that is not U.S. marked and is possibly a replacement. CONDITION: Very good as cleaned and polished bright with light storage marks and pitting throughout and markings still legible. Stock is very good as sanded and refinished with large repaired break at wrist. Buttplate shows some pitting from poor storage. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand. Bore is fair with barely visible rifling. TON
