Lot consists of (A) Germanic flintlock carbine with unmarked short multi-groove rifled octagonal barrel with large brass front and rear sights. Unmarked lock with reinforced cock. Plain military style brass furniture and walnut stock with sling swivels. Sliding wooden patchbox. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark applied patina. Lock is a reconversion and functions well. Stock shows scattered marks and minor repairs. Brass retains a mustard patina. Carbine was made without a ramrod channel, perhaps signifying eastern use. (B) Contemporarily stocked flintlock saddle carbine with French components. Round heavily swamped smoothbore barrel stamped with large "US" at breech as well as other indistinct and probably spurious markings. The unmarked lock is in the French style with reinforced cock. Left side is fitted with an iron saddle bar and saddle ring. Brass mounts are French. Walnut stock is modern. CONDITION: Heavily polished overall. DMG
