Lot consists of (A) Large leather hunting bag, probably late 18th or early 19th century. Measures about 13 - 1/2" by 11 - 1/2". Brown leather with decorated stitched panels on flap and oval-shaped fringes across top, above flap. Interior lined with stitched fabric. Leather strap and buckle appear to be original. CONDITION: Leather shows some flaking and hardening, as well as some very small holes, Interior shows yellowing and staining. A very nice early bag. (B) Deerskin hunting bag with associated powder horn and cloth strap. Strap appears to be 18th century, but is associated. Indistinct powder horn with convex butt, scalloped spout section, and tack decoration around base. Pouch itself measures about 8" by 8 - 1/2". CONDITION: Some losses to deer hair and leather on back is deteriorating and flaked, with a small section torn. Strap shows fading and fraying. Horn good. (C) 1759 dated French and Indian War engraved powder horn. Measures 11 - 1/4" across the bow. Horn has been shortened and converted to a hunting bugle during period of use. Engraved designs include repeating band of diamonds, fish, a ship of war with an anchor, 2 large mermaids, and 3 stick figures near a triangular tent. Horn is inscribed "JULY 6, 1759". Faceted section below spout. CONDITION: Shows heavy wear overall, shortened at both ends. DMG
