Lot consists of (A) Colt 1860 Army single action percussion revolver. Made 1863. Top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". Patent faintly visible on the left side of the frame. Brass trigger guard is marked "44 CAL" on the left side. Faint illegible inspector cartouches on the bottoms of each grip strap. Inspector stamp, "B" under the grip. Matching serials on the frame, barrel, trigger guard, and butt. Round barrel with small blade front sight. Polished brass front grip strap and trigger guard. Gun was completely refinished at some point with a heavy blued finish. The frame, cylinder, and barrel have been scroll engraved. Brass trigger guard has been scroll engraved as well. Walnut grip was refinished at some point. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its reapplied finish with light wear. There is pitting on the inside of the cylinder, and on the nipples, where the finish was not reapplied. Brass has been polished. Grip has handling marks and scratches. Frosted bore with some minor pitting. Good overall rifling. Although the hammer is tight, the barrel assembly is very loose and will need heavy adjustment before use. Cylinder is missing one nipple; other nipples are pitted. (B) Colt 1860 Army single action percussion revolver. Made 1863. Top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML. COLT" with the rest of the company address worn off. Patent faintly visible on the left side of the frame. Faint illegible inspector cartouches on the bottom of the right grip strap. Mexican coin inlaid in the left grip strap. Inspector stamp, "H" on the front grip strap. There is a spurious "U.S" on the trigger guard, under the serial number. Matching serials on the frame, barrel, trigger guard and butt. Round, barrel with small blade front sight. Polished brass front grip strap and trigger guard. Gun was heavy polished and completely refinished at some point. Walnut grip, having been refinished at some point. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its finish, being heavily cleaned and polished. Grips have handling marks and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted with good overall rifling. Hammer and cylinder have some movement when cocked. The whole gun is loose and needs adjustment before use. Nipples some wear, being solid overall. JWA
