Percussion Kentucky style rifle made in the Emmitsburg Style which consignor attributes to master gunmaker "John Armstrong". Full octagon barrel with straight cut rifling. German silver blade front sight with notched rear sight. "Ashmore Warranted" marked percussion lock controlled by a single trigger with drum featuring wrenchable clean out plug. Full plain maple stock done in architecture similar to Armstrong with Armstrong style brass hardware including a 4 petal daisy finial with pinwheel sideplates and Armstrong style engraved lid and toeplate. Rear raised dimple style tailpipe typically used by Armstrong with faceted ramrod pipes also typical of Armstrong rifles. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has aged patina with light surface corrosion with heavy pitting near drum. Some slight shrinkage around lock with lock being an original flint lock repurposed for use in this rifle. Wood has aged look with burnout around drum. No visible restoration or repairs with usage marks and dings. Dark pitted bore with functioning mechanics. DLM
