Percussion Kentucky style unmarked fowler built in the Emmitsburg, Maryland style and similar to known fowler signed by John Armstrong. Several parts on this gun indicate a connection to the Armstrong shop such as the buttplate, long nosecap, as well as the raised dimple tailpipe. This gun is also pictured in "Maryland Longrifles" by Daniel D. Hartzler and James Biser Whisker on page 45 and in "Gunsmiths of Maryland Firelock Colonial Period through the Breech-Loading Patent Models Featuring Longrifles" by Daniel D. Hartzler and James B. Whisker. Gun has 42 - 5/8" half round half octagon smoothbore barrel with German silver blade front sight and rear notched sight. Golcher single bolt percussion lock misdrilled for extra lock bolt with single trigger control. Full curly maple stock built in fowler style with rounded toe. Silver thumbpiece inlay. Brass hardware with fowler style trigger guard with floral design engraved on bow. Nicely done raised floral design on wrist area. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has aged brown patina with light aged surface pitting. Stock has minor replaced wood around lock with some shrinkage around lock and metal parts. Buttplate has damage at toe with chip of wood missing. Aged repair to the backplate. Rifle has an as found look to it. Dark bore with sticky mechanics. DLM
