Percussion Kentucky style rifle made by "Jacob Marker" in Sharpsburg, Maryland between 1855 and 1890. Pictured in "Arms Makers of Maryland" by Daniel D. Hartzler in Figure 42 on page 50. Full octagon original length rifled barrel with German silver front sight and notched rear sight stamped "J. MARKER". Golcher marked percussion lock with double set trigger control. Full plain maple stock with brass hardware including a 4 piece engraved patchbox with Emmitsburg style floral finial and engraved crossed floral pattern on lid and release on the toe. Complete with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has aged brown patina with light surface freckling. Brass has golden appearance with added coat of protective varnish. Stock has no visible repairs with some small areas of burnout around lock and added coat of old finish or wax. Lock does not hold cock. Dark bore with visible rifling. A nice looking rifle. DLM
