Of classic form with three downward pointing quillons, and one straight L shaped quillon and knuckle guard. These swords are the national sword of Morocco, and many of them were constructed with European imported blades; this example boasts a nice Andrea Ferrara blade with triple fullers, two running nearly the full length of the blade, with " ++++ FERRARA ++++" and "++++ ANDREA ++++" with suns in the fullers. Flatback spine comes to a false edge near tip. Scabbard and hilt are comprised of a wooden core wrapped in repousse sheet silver with florals and geometrics and accented with punch dots and hash marks along the spines. There are 3 very small French silver hallmarks including "CVH" (?) in a lozenge and head, approximately halfway down, near the second wedding band. Spine has a long reinforcement that is decorated with florals and cut decoration en suite. Loop at chape. Dual suspension rings at locks, which is decorated in bands decorated in punch dots and cut geometrics. CONDITION: Very good, blade has been gently cleaned in the European fashion over some minor oxidation that has left spotting and some fine pitting. Blade legends are crisp. Silver is very good with some minor separation at seams and two small piece missing on hilt near knucklebow and at throat of scabbard. Some normal handling marks that throughout to scabbard and hilt that do not detract. This is a really nice example with plenty of eye appeal. EW
