Great example of a 18th century Hudson Valley fowler. Tapered 50 -1/2" round smoothbore barrel with several rings at breech. Tiger maple Hudson Valley architecture fowler with brass hardware engraved with folksy designs and brass nosepiece (possibly added). Buttstock has been shaved into custom form in the period and has a period full wrist repair which adds to this guns appearance. Gun is carved around tang and tailpipe in a fleur de lis pattern. Gun also has owners initials inscribed in several places on stock. Lock looks to be original beveled engraved flint lock with gunsmith turned tail trigger. CONDITION: Metal has aged patina with lock looking like it was cleaned years ago. Wood has period repair at wrist with having been cleaned and waxed. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
