Colt Single Action Army revolver engraved by Phil Hudson. Made 1884. Company address removed from the top of the barrel. Patent dates on the left side of the frame. “45 COLT” marked on the left side of the barrel, and “.45 CAL” marked on the left side of the trigger guard. A Texas Rangers emblem has been glued on the slide of the frame, next to the hammer. The inside of the frame is marked “BJ” on both sides. Matching serials on the frame, trigger guard, and butt. Cylinder does not look to be numbered. Round steel barrel with blade front sight and V-notch cut out rear. Gun was renickeled, before being engraved with scroll scenes on the barrel, frame, cylinder, and grip straps. Gun was said to have been engraved by Phil Hudson of Texas. Case hardened trigger and hammer. Fake ivory style grips with a sheriff style scene carved on the left panel and saloon scene on the right panel. CONDITON: Metal retains 90% or more of its reapplied finish with some wear and handling marks. Grips are excellent. Bore is frosted, but retains very good rifling. Hammer and cylinder are tight. Mechanically fine. JWA
