Characteristic form of the pepperbox pistol with six case colored revolving chambers with British proofs in the gullets and decorated with light border engraving at muzzle. Case colored hammer engraved with acanthus scroll. German silver round action with more acanthus engraved en suite. Trigger guard and butt engraved en suite. 2 piece walnut stocks retained by single screw through central escutcheon. Mounted with triangular spike bayonet with case colored base. CONDITION: Excellent, with case coloring still visible in the gullets, at base of spike bayonet, and on hammer. High polish English blue visible on the inside of the trigger guard, but exterior and bow are essentially gunmetal grey. Some minor spotting of metal. Engraving is crisp. German silver is very good and clean. Stocks are very good with a chip on left side and some shrinkage away from escutcheon on right. Action works appropriately when cycled gently by hand. Bore is very good. Finding a pepperbox with this much condition and a bayonet is very rare. EW
