Smith & Wesson Model .38 Double Action revolver with box. Made circa 1887. Standard patent dates on the barrel rib. Matching serials on the butt, cylinder, barrel lug, and top latch. Round barrel with full top rib. Half moon front sight with V-notch rear. Fine, factory nickel finish with a blued trigger guard. "S&W" monogram hard rubber grips. Includes a period flat board box with the correct end label matching the gun. Brown paper in the box is reproduction. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its original finish with some edge wear and handling marks. There is a small spot of patina on the rim of the muzzle, on the right side of the barrel, and on the edge of the cylinder. Grips are excellent. Bore is very good overall with a few small pits. Very good overall rifling. Light drag lines on the cylinder. Tight hammer and cylinder. Mechanically fine. Box has edge wear and a rip at the right corner. Some discoloration as well. Overall a nice example of a Smith & Wesson 38. JWA
