Lot consists of (A) Winchester 1890 slide action rifle. Made 1899. Top of the barrel is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.", while "22 SHORT" is marked on the top of the chamber. Tang is marked "MODEL 1890", followed by the patent dates. Octagon, steel barrel with blade front sight and factory V-notch rear. Original finish on the metal components, with a gray patina forming on the frame. oil finished wood stocks with a crescent metal butt plate. Standard ribbed forearm. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with wear and gray patina forming on the frame. Wood is very good overall, with handling marks and scratches. Forearm looks to be solid. Bore is frosted, with some pitting near the muzzle. Mechanically fine. (B) Winchester Model 1906 slide action rifle. Made circa 1912. Patent dates on the barrel, followed by "MOD.1906". Chamber is marked "22 SHORT-LONG/OR LONG RIFLE". "WHINCHESTER TRADEMARK" marked on the top of the tang, with the serial number marked on the bottom. Winchester proofs on the top of the barrel and frame. Matching serial numbers on the frame and tang. Round steel barrel with blade front sight and U-notch tangent rear. Rear sight looks to be a replacement. Original finish on the metal components having formed a brownish patina. Wood has been refinished at some point with an oil compound. Smooth forearm. Factory hard rubber butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with wear and a brown patina forming. Wood has handling marks, dings, scratches and dents. Bore is frosted, with some pitting near the muzzle. Very good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
